August 5, 2006:  Rest Day in Williston, North Dakota

Today was a rest day in Williston. We did manage to get up early to watch a local 5K/10K running race, which meant fighting 30mph winds for a few miles - some rest day, huh? At lunch, we met a young actor named David from NYC who is riding the Northern Tier from east to west and had a very nice chat with him. We will try to get ahold of him when we hit the New England states and see if he wants to ride some with us. David had just ridden 130 miles from outside Minot to Williston yesterday along Hwy 2, which is off route, but he highly recommended it. We're going to take his advice, as it will shave about 15 miles off the ride to Minot. Got some great tips and ideas for places to stay, dogs to avoid, and roads filled with glass from him. Wrapped up the exciting rest day with a matinee of Talladega Nights, which wasn't very entertaining, laundry, and camping at Buffalo Trails RV park.

Priuses today = 1.

Did You Know?  Some studies have shown as much as a five-fold increased risk in the development of intestinal cancer in people with IBD compared to the general population. Colonoscopies remain the best means for detecting early, curable cancer.
