August 8, 2006:  Located in Devils Lake, North Dakota

Day 25 of our journey and, after consulting with about 10 locals, we decided to make a beeline for Devil's Lake, opting for staying on Hwy 2 rather than following the more roundabout Adventure Cycling route. For some reason, a 58 mile day sounded much better than an 80 miler and we're betting the scenery is pretty similar no matter which road out here.

The winds picked up as we finished our pancake-heavy breakfast at the Cornerstone Cafe, so we quickly hit the bikes and got in about 3 hours of relatively easy riding before the winds kicked back up to 15-25 mph for the last 20 miles into Devil's Lake. Immediately upon our arrival in D.L., we headed for The Liquid Bean coffee shop for lunch, caffeine, and the inside scoop on where to camp, eat, etc. No luck yet on the camping. Also while there, we finished a phone interview for the Minot Daily News and hopefully the story will get published soon.

There is absolutely NO wind here at the Devil's Lake Public Library, so we might just stay here awhile. Actually, the wind is supposed to diminish overnight and we'll be on our way to Cooperstown...no, not THAT Cooperstown, Patrick.

Did You Know?  Some studies have shown as much as a five-fold increased risk in the development of intestinal cancer in people with IBD compared to the general population. Colonoscopies remain the best means for detecting early, curable cancer.
