66 miles from Parkers Prairie to Little Falls, home of Charles Lindbergh.
Another great day for riding, with clear skies, mild temps, and a slight SE
breeze. After banana pancakes (a Brazilian specialty), sausage, juice and
coffee, Mark delivered us back to where he picked us up yesterday and we said
our goodbyes.
Note to self: be sure to clean and oil the bike chains tonight.
Lunch in Long Prairie brought lots of strange looks from folks that were not
very friendly. Usually we're greeted warmly in small towns, but not this one.
Long wait for computers at the library so we headed off for Little Falls in the
early afternoon.
Lots more dogs gave chase today, including a German short-hair that lazily loped
along at 15-20 mph for at least 400-500 yards! No spray for him, since I love
this type of dog and he seemed friendly.
Upon arriving, we were interviewed by Terry from the Little Falls Record. She
had done quite a bit of reading on Tour de Guts, so she had some very good
questions and was well-informed on IBD. The article should run sometime this
week, so we'll have to look online for it. Jeff drove up from business in St.
Cloud (www.myfom.com) to have
dinner with us and make sure we had everything we needed and it was great to see
him again. We were again treated to a free night of lodging at the AmericInn
(thanks, Tim!) and are forever grateful to these fine people for supporting us
in this way. It's so nice to have a comfy bed to flop into at night.
John G. emailed us some alternate directions that should get us home by Thursday
night, rather than Friday, so we'll print those tomorrow in Milaca. Thanks,
John!
