August 29, 2006:  Located in Little Monon, Indiana

86 miles from Cabery to Monon, IN. Today started with a light mist falling on us as we left Charlie and Joyce's house. Charlie rode with us for about 15 miles until he had to get back to prepare for the fall harvest. We can't thank them enough for their willingness to take in two tired, wet cyclists and brighten our spirits!

Mid-day we passed into Indiana without even a sign to mark the spot. It sprinkled or misted on us for most of today, but we managed to avoid any major showers and rolled into Monon for a quick bite to eat before heading to our campground. The pizza lady mentioned that a new B&B had opened up in town so we checked it out but learned it was full of construction workers. It was all very weird so we were happy to be camping!

While finishing our 'za, we noticed quite the hubbub across the street: 2 sheriffs and 1 police officer were giving 3 young boys the 3rd degree. Nobody got cuffed or hauled off, so who knows what was going on. Almost immediately after setting up the tent, a hard rain fell and since we hadn't staked out the guy lines for the fly, some of the rain soaked through and got us and our stuff a little wet.  Lesson learned.

Priuses = 0.
